ABOUT US

The Loch Lomond Rescue Boat is an independent volunteer lifeboat serving Loch Lomond and the surrounding shores. It was founded in 1977 from monies donated by an unknown sailor. The rescue boat attends around 100 callouts per year with some particularly busy days having as many as 7 or 8 callouts in a single day! The boat is crewed entirely by volunteers and is funded by donations. Loch Lomond Rescue Boat is a recognised Scottish Charity SC020014

The Loch Lomond Rescue Boat is a member of the The National Independent Lifeboat Association (NILA)

TRAINING & EVENTS

LLRB & Arrochar MRT Exercise

LLRB Crew , National Park Rangers & Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team recently spent the day on a joint training exercise. The exercise simulated two casualties who had sustained traumatic injuires after a fall on Inchtavannach Island. Exercises like these allow all teams to practice Casualty care skills, Search patterns & Extrication from difficult or remote locations.

SORT VISIT TO LLRB (Special Operations Response Team)

LLRB recently hosted the SORT Team from Scottish Ambulance Service at the boat for familiarisation training. SORT is the ambulance services special operations team & we on ocassion work alongside them at water rescue incidents or difficult extrications on the West Highland Way. This training opportunity allowed them to see the boat , meet the crew and learn about some of our capabilities. we also took the opportunity to visit some islands and look at RVP points for future inc

HM Coastguard Rescue Helicopter Visit

LLRB Crew had a recent visit to the Coastguard Search and Rescue Helicopter R199 based at Prestwick Airport. This provided us with the opportunity to meet some of the crew, look at the different roles & familiarise ourselves with the Helicopter for when we work togteher on Search & Rescue Tasking's.
