Loch Lomond Rescue Boat were tasked at 23:50 last night (04/07/26) as part of a multi-agency response involving Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service & Coastguard Rescue Helicopter R199 to reports of a male having fallen from a dinghy near Rowardennan.

Crew assembled and launched immediately, proceeding to the area whilst requesting assistance from the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter on route due to the potential seriousness of the incident.

Arriving on scene, we commenced a search of the area for persons in the water or the dinghy itself. Soon afterwards, we recovered the inflatable hull of a dinghy from the water.

Following updates from Police officers making enquiries on shore and members of the public camping in the area, it was established that the male in the water had been seen to get back into his dinghy and was last seen heading south. However, due to concerns for his welfare after being in the water, the search continued.

Using searchlights and night vision equipment, our crew carried out searches of both the water and shoreline across a large area whilst liaising with partner agencies.

After a period of searching, Rescue Helicopter R199 located a male attracting attention within the treeline near Ross Isles. Our crew made their way ashore and located the casualty, who had taken shelter underneath the dinghy with his dog.

Following a quick assessment the male, along with his dog and vessel, were safely recovered and brought onboard the lifeboat before being transferred to emergency service colleagues at Rowardennan.
